The Bay-ANI-han Project
Every harvest begins with a farmer who refuses to give up.
For generations, Boholano farmers have quietly fed our families. Long before supermarkets, deliveries, and convenience stores, they were already in the fields before sunrise—working under the heat, enduring storms, and sacrificing so that food would always reach our tables.
Today, many of them are slowly leaving agriculture.
The cost of farming continues to rise. The risks grow greater every season. And for many, the harvest is no longer enough to sustain their families. As more farmers walk away from the fields, we lose not only a livelihood—we lose the very people who feed our nation.
That is why BayAnihan was created.
BayAnihan allows kind-hearted individuals, businesses, and communities to directly support local farmers by providing seeds, fertilizers, and other essential farming needs. Your support helps them continue doing what they have always done: growing food for all of us.
This is more than helping a farmer earn a living.
It is about preserving our farms, protecting our food supply, and ensuring that the next generation will still have Filipino hands cultivating Filipino soil.
Because one question deserves all our attention:
If our farmers stop farming... who will grow our food?
And if one day we become dependent on imported food from other countries, will every Filipino still be able to afford to eat?
A small act of kindness today can help keep a farmer in the field tomorrow.
Together, let us grow not only crops—but hope, dignity, and a future where no Filipino goes hungry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is BAYANIHAN?
BAYANIHAN is a community-driven platform that connects consumers directly with local farmers.
Instead of simply buying harvested crops at the market, you help fund a farmer's planting season by contributing toward seeds, fertilizer, land preparation, and other farming needs. In return, you'll receive a share of the harvest at a very low price.
Our mission is simple:
Help farmers plant more. Harvest together. Make food affordable. Feed more families.
How does it work?
- Choose a farmer you want to support.
- Select a support package.
- Your contribution helps fund that farmer's planting season.
- Receive regular farm updates throughout the growing season.
- After harvest, you'll be notified when your products are ready for pickup or delivery.
Where does my money go?
Your contribution is used only for farming-related expenses, such as:
- Quality seeds
- Fertilizers
- Soil nutrients
- Land preparation
- Farm maintenance
- Harvesting expenses
- Other approved farming inputs
BAYANIHAN carefully monitors every campaign to ensure funds are used for their intended purpose. The funds will be given by tranche depending on the farmer's progress.
How do you ensure farmers use the funds properly?
Every participating farmer goes through a verification process before joining BAYANIHAN.
Our team regularly visits farms and monitors the progress of each campaign.
We document every major stage of the farming cycle from land preparation to planting, fertilization, and harvest, and provide updates to supporters.
Farmers who repeatedly fail to comply with BAYANIHAN's standards may be removed from future campaigns.
Will I receive updates?
Yes.
You'll receive updates throughout the planting season, including photos and videos whenever available.
Updates may include:
- Land preparation
- Seedling growth
- Transplanting
- Fertilizer application
- Crop development
- Harvest progress
We believe transparency builds trust.
What happens if the harvest is lower than expected?
Agriculture is affected by weather, pests, diseases, and other natural factors.
If the farmer cannot fulfill the campaign due to a failed harvest, your support will be converted into BAYANIHAN Credit, which can be used to purchase other available products in our marketplace.
This is to create a risk-free environment to the people who supports them without a doubt.
What is BAYANIHAN Credit?
BAYANIHAN Credit is store credit equal to the value of your support.
You may use it to purchase available products from our marketplace, including:
- Rice
- Fresh fruits
- Fresh vegetables
- Corn
- Farm by-products
- Processed agricultural products
- Other participating farmers' products
Your support is never lost. It continues helping farmers while ensuring you still receive value.
Is my crop allocation guaranteed?
While farming is affected by weather, pests, diseases, and other natural factors beyond anyone's control, your support is protected by BAYANIHAN.
The harvest allocation shown on each campaign is based on the farmer's expected harvest, as actual harvests may vary.
However, if the farmer is unable to fulfill your crop allocation due to a poor or failed harvest, BAYANIHAN guarantees that the full value of your support will be refunded as BAYANIHAN Credit.
Your BAYANIHAN Credit can be used to purchase any available products from our marketplace, including rice, fresh fruits, vegetables, farm by-products, processed agricultural products, and other participating farmers' products.
Why not simply refund my money?
Your contribution is used to fund the actual farming operation.
Once seeds, fertilizer, labor, and other farming inputs have been purchased, those funds have already been invested into the crop.
Rather than issuing cash refunds that could jeopardize future farming operations, BAYANIHAN provides BAYANIHAN Credit so your contribution still translates into food and agricultural products.
How do I receive my products?
Once the harvest is ready, we'll notify you by email, SMS, or your BAYANIHAN account.
You may choose:
- Pickup
- Local delivery
Delivery fees may apply depending on your location.
Can I support more than one farmer?
Absolutely.
You can support as many farmers and campaigns as you'd like.
Who owns the crops?
The crops remain the property of the farmer until harvest.
Your support gives you a fixed harvest allocation or BAYANIHAN Credit according to the campaign terms.
Why does BAYANIHAN exist?
Because every year, fewer Filipinos choose farming.
Many of our farmers are growing older, while younger generations leave agriculture due to rising costs, uncertain harvests, and unstable markets.
We believe helping farmers isn't charity, it's an investment in our country's food security.
If farmers stop planting, everyone will eventually feel the impact.
BAYANIHAN exists so communities can stand beside our farmers, helping them continue planting while making fresh, locally grown food more accessible to everyone.
